Working with a Bail Agency

If you have a family member who is in jail, it can sometimes be a frightening experience. You might not know when the person will be released or when the court date will be, to determine how long the person will stay in jail. There are some ways in which a bail bond company can help to get your family member out of jail, even if you don't have a lot of money to use for the bond amount.

Most companies will let you pay a certain percentage of the bond. This amount is often 10% of the bond amount. Once this amount is paid, someone from the company will go to the jail to sign the paperwork to have your family member or relative released.

If the person doesn't appear on the court date, then there could be a warrant issued. As long as the person has contact with the bail bond agent, though, a warrant usually doesn't happen as most agents want to help those who have been released get a job and make better choices before going to court.

Another option is to use land as collateral. Although this would be using the land that you own in a situation to get someone out of jail, it would mean that you don't have to pay any money out of your pocket. Some bond companies are compassionate and after explaining your situation, they may not require anything upfront or might let you make payments on the bail amount instead.
